Birth*September 1841 Susan R Dawes was born in September 1841 according to the 1900 census. Her death certificate gives her birth date as 20 Sep 1842. Since the death certificate information was provided by George Crum, relationship unknown, the information on the 1900 census is probably more accurate.2,3,1 
1860 Census*5 July 1860 She appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Kingwood Township, Hunterdon. She was residing in the home of Philip Hoff and working as a domestic for the Hoff family.4 
Marriage*5 February 1863 Susan married Leonard Crum, son of Henry Crum and Catherine Moore, on 5 February 1863 at M.E. Parsonage, Flemington, Hunterdon, NJG.5,6 
1870 Census*8 July 1870 Susan R and Leonard appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Sergeantsville, Delaware Township, Hunterdon, NJG, enumerated 8 July 1870. Their children Carrie Bell, James Peter, Willie and Jason Suydam were living with them. Leonard owned land worth $2500 which he was farming.7 
1880 CensusJune 1880 She and Leonard Crum appeared on the 1880 Federal Census West Raritan, Hunterdon, NJG, enumerated June 1880. Their children Carrie Bell, James Peter, Willie, Lizzie, Henry Francis and John White were listed as living with them.8 
1900 Census15 June 1900 She and Leonard Crum appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Hopewell Township, Mercer, NJG, enumerated 15 June 1900. Their children John White and Theodore were listed as living with them. 61 year old Leonard's occupation was a farm laborer. The family was living in a rented home.3 
1905 NJ census18 June 1905 By 18 June 1905, Leonard, Susan and their son, John, had moved back to Delaware Township, Hunterdon, NJG.9
